How can I set Mecardo up to keep me logged in (and not enter login details each time)?

You can set up all your devices to avoid having to enter your login details each time you visit the Mecardo site, either directly or via links on the daily email alert.

Some points to note:

  • When setting up your login details, make sure you open a new browser window (irrespective of the device) and access the Mecardo homepage (www.mecardo.com.au).  Do not go to the homepage from another Mecardo webpage or via the daily email alert (when setting this up).
  • Make sure you set up all the devices you use to access Mecardo individually.
  • If for any reason you log out of the Mecardo website (on any device), you will need to follow the process below again for that particular device, to allow Mecardo to ‘remember’ your login details from session to session.

What is the Riemann wool market?

The Riemann Wool Forward Contract is a forward contract for physical wool including fine wool types (18 to 21MPG) and coarser types (22 to 30MPG).

The forward contracts are slightly different to exchange traded futures contracts as they are a bilateral agreement between a nominated seller and a buyer. In contrast to futures, the forwards have a certain degree of customisation which includes desired volume, delivery date, micron type and price. Furthermore, no margin deposits are required in order to trade.

Maturity dates go forward up to 2 wool clips, with dates linked to key wool auction sales. Grower’s offers are placed through their wool brokers and listed on an electronic trading platform where buyers and other market participants can have access to them. Participants’ identity is secured while prices and volumes are disclosed for public viewing.

Prior to contract settlement, growers’ contracted wool needs to be physically delivered to wool broker’s store in order to match physical auction sale with forward contract maturity date. Contracts are settled against the nominated MPG (Mid price of the North & South MPG’s) on the contract settlement date with cash being transferred from owing party to receiving party.
