A mixed bag of prices at auction was reflected in the deals struck on the forwards market over the week. All the activity was pitched towards 19 and 21 micron fibres with a solid number of trades forward contracted.

There was a slight rise in 19 micron fibres in the physical auction market and this saw some good activity in the forwards. For the 19-mpg, June 2017 dealt at 1805¢, 1800¢ for July 2017, 1725¢ for September 2017 and a number of contracts traded at 1700¢ for November 2017. There was also a contract out to January 2018 on 19-mpg where the grower locked in at 1675¢.

The price for medium fibres dropped off slightly at auction mid-week and this held fairly consistently on deals in the forward market. The 21 micron contract traded at 1400¢ for September 2017, between 1380¢ and 1390¢ for October 2017 and again at 1390¢ for November.
