The New Year has fueled new spirit into the wool forwards market. Traders were forced to hold their patience over the recess while the market was closed but jumped straight back in at full pace this week with 20 trades on the board.
Two deals on 18 Micron wool were struck at 2300¢ for May 2018. Also in the fine wool territory, 19 micron wool traded at 2130¢ and 2135¢ for March 2018, 2070¢ and 2120¢ for April, 1935¢ for August, 1900¢ and 1910¢ for September and 1900¢ for October.
21 micron wool trades were dealt at 1705¢ for both February and March 2018, with another at 1755¢ also for March. April saw five 21 micron deals with a significant spread between, ranging from 1670¢ to 1750¢. Trades also occurred for June 2018 at 1700¢ and September at 1580¢.
There were no minimum price contracts this week.
