Unskirted wool – what are the numbers saying?

Wool that is prepared and offered for sale without skirting (unskirted) falls outside of the AWEX Code of Practice. It is allocated a D (non-conforming) certificate and generally has fribs shown in the AWEX ID. Debate surrounds unskirted wool, centred on quality issues and the reputation of the Australian clip. This article looks at the sources of unskirted wool in the clip, recent trends in supply and implications for the Australian clip.
