Supply remains king but demand has a shot: MLA’s cattle projections

While cattle slaughter and the herd size estimates took the spotlight in Meat and Livestock Australia’s (MLA) latest industry projections, demand and exports forecasts have not been left on the sidelines. Underpinned by stubbornly high cattle turnoff but also by a stronger than expected export demand, MLA revised its beef export estimates 7.8% higher to 2013’s record levels of 1.1 million tonnes swt.
