SA lamb markets softer in August, cattle firmer

South Australian lamb markets continued to ease in August despite relatively steady yardings, as a result of softer buyer demand and deteriorating stock quality. Most lamb indicators and mutton have moved back to their 65-71st percentile while restockers posted a strongly recovery to finish the month at 548¢/kg cwt, or its 88th percentile. Finished cattle markets were also firmer, particularly cows.
