SA lamb and mutton tumble prior to Easter – March percentiles

South Australian lamb and mutton prices collapsed last week. That was probably the result of a flush of poor quality stock prior to the Easter break, processor shutdowns and saleyard’s sales disruptions rather than an abrupt change in buyer demand. In percentile terms, most categories fell below their 80th percentile for the first time since spring 2014. Cattle markets, on the other hand, remain firm.
