Restricted volatility and firmer lamb prices in the island state

Tasmanian lamb markets have been remarkably stable since March, in contrast to their mainland counterparts. However, the differences don’t stop there. Light lambs are now the best quoted category in the state, with prices at a 45¢ premium to heavy lambs. In percentile terms, lambs remain above their 90th percentile while mutton markets have fallen sharply in the last three weeks back to their 83rd percentile.
