Record cattle on feed responding to demand

The number of cattle in Australian feedlots reached a new record at the end of December as dry weather continued to push cattle into feedlots. Cattle on feed (COF) reached 964,968 head at the end of the year, largely because of record placements, as marketings of grainfed cattle also hit an all-time high. The new record COF figures eclipsed the June 2006 mark by 24,871 or 2.6%.
