No signs of easing for the live cattle trade

For the fifth consecutive month, live cattle exports have moved above the 100,000 head mark. As a result, year-to-July (latest ABS stats) numbers have already reached 731,429 head and are 85% above the corresponding period in 2013. Underpinned by robust export demand for feeder cattle, steer prices ex-Darwin have moved above 200¢/kg lwt again earlier this month, putting them in line with feeder steer prices in Queensland.
