It is generally accepted that Australian lamb supply is highly seasonal, with the monthly slaughter range in 2014 from 1.6 to 2.1 million head. However, the seasonality of supply in Australia is moderate when compared with New Zealand, where they are currently in the peak supply period. This may be impacting prices here, but it also illustrates how global lamb supplies will tighten as we move through autumn.
