As wool prices rise to record nominal levels, the crowds gather to cheer each further rise. Prices are a function of the interaction of supply and demand. Demand cannot be measured directly but supply can be, at least in Australia which is the dominant merino producer. This article takes a look at recent changes to merino combing volumes, including the latest May data.
