Defying expectations, lot feeder margins remain high

Lot feeder margins have risen substantially since August to reach a 7-year high of around $260/head in January in southern markets. In the north, the increase in margins has also been steady but slightly more moderated as a result of higher feed costs. Nevertheless, margins were still around the $170/head mark and well above January 2013.
