Live sheep exports to rebound from 2013 lows

Live sheep exports fell 305,198 head, or 13.4%, year-on-year to an all-time low of 1.97 million head in 2013. Despite the high availability of sheep throughout the year, market access to key Middle Eastern markets remained the major hurdle for live exporters. For 2014, MLA is forecasting numbers to move back to 2.3 million head, a 16.5% jump year-on-year.
