Lamb exports in 2014 surpassed 2013 record levels by 11% to reach 236,929 tonnes swt, a result of strong slaughter levels, robust export demand and a falling A$. All key export markets contributed to the substantial growth in shipments, although their market shares remained almost intact from 2013. Despite the anticipated firm export demand for 2015, volumes are expected to dwindle as supplies ease from 2014’s highs.
