We had a query from a reader this week questioning whether he should sell some weaners he bought ‘dirt cheap’ as heavier stores, and buy back in the New Year or whether he should grow them out to feeder or heavy steers. I’m not sure where these dirt cheap cattle came from, I don’t think stores have been cheap since 2015. Nonetheless, we attempt to put some numbers around holding (or buying) store cattle in the current market, or whether they’ll be cheaper in January or February.
