Grassfed steers due to play catch up

Last week’s rain in NSW has seen supply tighten and processors bidding up to secure cattle. This has caused a strong rally in grassfed export cattle prices. Despite this, heavy steers remain below the peaks seen back in January. Moreover, they remain at a historically large discount to grainfed steer prices, suggesting there could be further upside for heavy grassfed steers when the traditional winter tight supply period rolls around.
