As large numbers of store cattle continue to flow from drought-stricken regions in Queensland and NSW, a good proportion of those unfinished lines have made their way onto feedlots in the September quarter. Aside from the obvious impact of the drought, the solid increase in grainfed cattle prices combined with lower feed costs have seen Cattle on Feed (CoF) numbers surge 7.4% to an 8-year high of 908,118 head in Q3.
