Dead cat bounce no relief to Queensland’s cattle markets

After a minor recovery at the start of the month, Queensland cattle markets lost momentum in the last couple of weeks to finish June still in the doldrums. While trade steers and cows managed to gain around 15¢ month-on-month, heavy steers edged only 4¢ higher to 285¢/kg cwt. As a result, they remained in their 3rd percentile, and quoted at a 90-95¢ discount to corresponding stock in NSW and Victoria.
