Are the current lamb forward contracts good value?

Back in early March, a processor released forward contracts at 580¢/kg cwt for April. At the time, we thought these were reasonable value, but there was significant upside. In hindsight, the 580¢ contracts were good value, with April so far seeing trade lamb prices in the 515-545¢/kg cwt range. It seems processors still expect supply to tighten, with a spate of forward contracts offered in recent weeks as far out as August. In this article, we’ll take a look at their value.
