Cow and heavy steer prices succumb to supply pressure – QLD percentiles

Finished cattle turnoff remained stubbornly high in Queensland throughout October to finally place downward pressure on prices in the last two weeks. After hitting 10-year highs earlier in the month, cow and heavy steer prices plunged 58¢ to 282¢ (69th percentile) and 29¢ to 354¢/kg cwt (89th percentile), respectively. Feeder steers fell 14¢ month-on-month to 192¢/kg cwt, or the 67th percentile.
