ALFA/MLA Cattle on feed numbers marginally lower in Q2

An overall rise in feeder steer prices and improved pasture conditions during the June quarter (Q2) caused cattle placements into feedlots to fall 8.4% to 645,950 head. That, combined with sustained high grainfed cattle turnoff, has seen total cattle on feed numbers (CoF) fall 3.2% from Q1’s highs to 845,791 head in Q2.
