Stubbornly high slaughter rates combined with an insatiable demand for lean beef in the US saw Aussie beef exports surge 18% month-on-month to 121,524 tonnes swt in July, smashing the previous record set in May by some 13,398 tonnes swt. While the sheer volume of beef going to the US is not unprecedented, current levels have not been seen since 2005.
