Riemann Wool Forwards – week ending 27/05/2016

By Matt Dalgleish  |  Source: Riemann

Key points

2016-05-30 Riemann Wool Forwards

Trades across multiple micron categories this week with the 18.5, 19, 23 and 30-micron classes all seeing some action. Interestingly, the 21-micron which is usually the most active and liquid didn’t get much love this week but probably reflective of the action in the physical markets in the finer and coarser classes.

Fine wool saw late March 2017 in the 18.5 mpg trading at 1460¢/kg and the 19 mpg for Oct 2016 and April 2017 dealing at 1430¢. Coarse wool dealing in the 23-micron for September 2016 at 1320¢/kg and the 30 mpg at 703¢/kg for June 2016.

Some short dated bids are in the Riemann system for June and July 2016 across the 18.5, 19.5, 21, 28 and 30 mpg classes. This presents a great opportunity for growers shearing now or with wool available to be delivered soon to lock in some prices in fairly high percentile levels.
