As Mecardo’s Business Development Manager, Andrew is responsible for managing both the strategic direction and day-to-day operation of Mecardo. Andrew has a strong agricultural background with extensive understanding of grain markets and commodity risk management.
Andrew has a strong background in the grain industry having worked in various roles in grain marketing and logistics both in the UK and Australia with both large and small traders.
Andrew holds a Bachelor's degree in Business & IT from the University of the west of Scotland, and a Master of Agribusiness from the University of Queensland.

Angus Brown began work as a livestock market analyst for Ag Concepts Advisory Pty Ltd (ACA) in 2003 after completing an Agricultural Science/Commerce degree at the University of Melbourne. From early in his career at ACA, Angus has had extensive experience in developing risk management strategies for cattle producers and lot feeders. Through this work, he has developed a deep understanding of the drivers of the Australian cattle market, which he has successfully transferred to sheep and lamb markets.
Angus also provides advice to grain growers and consumers on the use of derivatives in hedging strategies. Angus recently moved back to Hamilton to take a closer interest in the family farm, where he implements his knowledge of markets on a daily basis.
Angus uses his strong analytical and communication skills to provide weekly commentary and analytical articles for Mecardo.
Market Analysis & Wool/Livestock Trading Manager
Prior to joining Ag Concepts, Matt began his career in 1993 with ANZ Bank as a technical analyst for foreign currency and interest rate markets. Matt progressed onto the currency trading desk, both in Australia and London.
In 2005 he left ANZ to pursue a career in teaching. Matt spent six years in the education sector initially teaching VCE Economics and then moving onto special needs education.
From early childhood, Matt has always had an interest in the agricultural sector. In 2012, he decided to move his family to a hobby farm on the outskirts of Ballarat where he could pursue a more rural lifestyle.
Most recently, Matt worked as a property manager for two local real estate firms in Ballarat. Matt holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Finance from RMIT and a postgraduate degree in Education from Monash University.

Chris Wilcox is the world’s leading analyst and commentator on the global wool industry. He has 21 years’ experience in conducting and guiding economic research, market intelligence analysis and strategic assessment of key issues in the global wool industry, in a career of over 30 years in Australian agribusiness.
Chris has a number of roles in the global wool industry, including: Chairman of the International Wool Textile Organisation’s Market Intelligence Committee; Executive Director of the National Council of Wool Selling Brokers of Australia; and a Board Director of the Australian Wool Testing Authority. He prepares the International Wool Textile Organisation’s annual Market Information statistics publication and is a member of the Australian Wool Production Forecasting Committee and the Australian Lamb Forecasting Committee.
Chris was Chief Economist at The Woolmark Company and the Australian Wool Corporation for 12 years until 2008 and is now the principal of his own business, Poimena Analysis.

Andrew has a background in farming. He was raised in the Riverina on Mulberrygong, a property near Hay. After securing a degree in Agricultural Science at the University of Sydney, he spent eight years farming in both northern and southern NSW. A move to wool broking in 1991 saw an interest in market analysis burgeon. Following a stint in Adelaide with Elders in the mid-1990s, he and his family moved to Wagga Wagga in 1997 to start Independent Commodity Services (ICS), with the help of Holmes Sackett and Associates. ICS services a wide section of the wool industry ranging from growers through brokers to traders and exporters. Andrew is the market analyst at ICS.

Virginia Farm Bureau Foundation
Jonah Bowles grew up in rural Hanover County, Virginia where he helped his family raise livestock and small grains. After serving four years in the US Coast Guard, Jonah returned to Virginia to attend the University of Richmond where he received a degree in Economics. He became a stockbroker specializing in hedging agricultural products in the commodity futures markets. His clients included banks, grain elevators, meat packing plants and livestock and row-crop farmers in the United States and Europe.
In 1999 Jonah joined Virginia Farm Bureau Federation in the position of Agricultural Market Analyst. He publishes a weekly “Commodity Comment” for farmers interested in improving their risk management and market-planning skills. He taught agricultural economics at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg for three years and at Virginia State University for one year.
Jonah resides in Midlothian, VA with his wife Elizabeth.

As an Ag Concepts Advisory (ACA) market analyst, Augusto Semmelroth is responsible for conducting fundamental and technical analysis of livestock markets, and writing the market analysis, outlook and commentaries for Mecardo. In addition to his work at Mecardo he also manages a trading book of Riemann wool forwards at ACA.
Prior to joining ACA in April 2012, Augusto worked at the University of Melbourne where he was involved in a research project assessing employment relationships in dairy farming. He also gained invaluable practical experience through his involvement in the operations of his family run beef cattle enterprise (located in Brazil and Paraguay).
Augusto holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agronomic Engineering from the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil), and a Master of Agribusiness from the University of Melbourne.
